There once lived a Young Man east of here who owned two donkeys, and because people from his village kept saying what lovely donkeys they were, he grew proud of them, and groomed them when they sweated, and kept their hooves clean and dry. One of them was a good and handsome donkey and the other was not so good, but he loved them equally and treated them both the same, and treated them well.

I thought of taking it to where somebody came with three donkeys, and him thinking, “How lovely it would be to have three,” but to have the story play out that way was not relevant to her predicament or pain.
